ARTIST STATEMENT

My art is the story of exploring what happens when I follow my interest. This interest has led me to create a synthetic world in which no concept is taken seriously and which is full of surprises. To create that world I draw and make collages from cutout canvas for its directness and tactile qualities. I push for variety and unity until all the elements resolve into a vibrating stillness.

 

Robert Brugger was born 1960 in Austria and moved to New York City in 1982. He studied with renowned American painter Knox Martin at the Art Students League of New York from 1995-2000.
